Business Aviation Travel Expands While Airline Premium Ridership Shows No Growth
An extensive analysis by STG has revealed that the number of best-paying passengers on U.S. airlines has stagnated at low levels while the number of travelers using business aircraft is reaching new highs. The results indicate that travelers on business aircraft now generate a record 41% the number of domestic passenger trips as those made by airline first-class, business-class and full-fare coach passengers combined.

US Air Taxi and VLJ Market
The July/August 2006 issue of “Managing The Skies” contained a review of our assessment of the US Air Taxi market and market for Very Light Jets (VLJ) in general. These results were extracted from a larger, syndicated study we undertook in 2006. The larger study was cited in a recent US GAO study of expected impacts of Very Light Jets.

GA Airport Safety Assessment Methodology and Data
In mid-2005 we provided a draft report of research on GA airport safety to the Wolf Aviation Fund. (The research was supported by the Alfred L. and Constance C. Wolf Aviation Fund (www.wolf-aviation.org).) Our report describes means by which a GA airport (or any airport with GA traffic) can compute the probability of an accident affecting persons on the ground outside the airport, such as those living in the surrounding community. A means for comparing these probabilities with the likelihood of personal injury arising from typical household accidents is provided. (In most suburban cases, the probability of a household injury from typical causes is more likely than injury arising from a GA-related incident.) This report and research were drawn from a more extensive study undertaken in Santa Clara County, California, during the 1990s.
Although the Wolf Aviation Fund is in-process of converting our report into a document for broader distribution, the draft report describing the analysis process and data sources is provided at the following link.
